After the city provided nonprofit WomenSV over $175,000 in funding and allowed its founder, Ruth Patrick Darlene, to have access to train Los Altos Police officers, the city has shut down further funding and is being asked to investigate how prior funding was used.

On May 28, 2024, three women spoke to oppose the WomenSV grant application seeking $60,000 in funding from Los Altos taxpayers.

City Council members Sally Meadows and Pete Dailey, along with Los Altos Mayor Jonathan Weinberg appeared willing to continue to fund the nonprofit, but eventually conceded to divest after they were unwilling to sway council members Neysa Fligor and Lynette Lee Eng.

Over 82 duped donors and WomenSV survivors are joining to demand not only divesting in the nonprofit, but investigation of the organization and it founder, Ruth Patrick Darlene , as more information continues to come forward indicating illegal attorney referral business and Honey Pot Operations that collected and used funds not reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
