The protection of the Canal Rd site is now the longest tree occupation in NZ history. So much support from many, many people both on and off site/screen.
This site is our ‘frontline’ and we treasure everyday it remains intact.
Other occupations at The Big Mac and 15 Henry St continue concurrently to bring the ongoing crisis of tree felling to the public’s knowledge.
The attached photo shows regrowth on Auckland’s largest Hinau tree after 3 months. These shoots represent 100 years of vitality and demonstrate the truly amazing resilience of our native trees to regenerate from ancient tissue.
It is a lesson for everyone, there is always time to regroup and regrow and regenerate our affinity with nature and preserve what we have while regenerating what we had, to make this planet sustainable.
Kia kaha everyone and be sure to go to check out facebook - #mana rakau #save canal road native trees if you see potential tree felling or want to be part of a nationwide movement for tree protection.
