We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and supporters of Hampton Bays and the greater Town of Southampton, stand in support of the proposed cannabis dispensary, Mottz Green Grocer, located at 93 East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

✅ LEGAL, LICENSED, AND COMMUNITY-FOCUSED
Mottz Green Grocer is backed by a state-issued CAURD license, part of New York’s equity-based cannabis program. The founders are Long Island natives, small business owners, and advocates for safe and responsible cannabis retail. This isn’t a pop-up smoke shop—it’s a secure, tightly regulated, and community-integrated dispensary designed to raise the bar for what a cannabis retail experience can be.

✅ PUBLIC SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
The proposed location is fully compliant with all New York State regulations, including distance requirements from schools, houses of worship, and other sensitive locations.

While some have raised concerns about St. Rosalie’s Church and its ministries nearby, the proposed location is fully compliant with New York State regulations regarding setbacks from sensitive sites such as schools and houses of worship. 

It’s worth noting that a liquor store is located even closer to the church than our proposed dispensary. Cannabis sales in licensed dispensaries are far more regulated, with strict Identification checks, no on-site consumption, and no advertising to minors.

As parents ourselves—with children in daycare—we understand and share concerns about protecting vulnerable groups. That’s why Mottz will go above and beyond compliance, putting in place enhanced safety and security measures including 24/7 surveillance, trained security personnel, discreet storefront design, and community engagement protocols to ensure a safe and respectful presence.
