The Issue

Justice for JEE Main 2025 Aspirants – Stop Playing with Our Future, NTA Must Be Held Accountable!

Petition Directed To:
National Testing Agency (NTA), Ministry of Education, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Honourable Delhi High Court

The Issue
Thousands of students across India have reported serious discrepancies in the JEE Main 2025 examination, raising alarming questions about the credibility of the results and the fairness of the evaluation process.

The Widespread Problems Include:

1. Mismatched response sheets (attempted answers not recorded or wrongly marked)
2. Errors in the official answer key
3. Irregular percentile and rank correlations
4. Technical glitches during exams (system freezes, submission failures)

JEE Main 2025 was meant to be a gateway to India’s top engineering colleges — but for many students, it became a nightmare:-

Several aspirants have now moved the Delhi High Court, alleging manipulation of their scorecards and response sheets. In some cases, the percentile dropped from 98+ to 25 between versions. In another case, a student who was shown to have attempted 46 questions was later shown only 29 in the NTA response sheet, costing him over 60 marks.

These are not isolated glitches.

The Delhi High Court has taken this very seriously. It has ordered a forensic investigation by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and involved the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to verify:

  • Whether original downloads were legitimate.
  • If the backend data was altered.
  • Whether NTA systems are secure, transparent, and accountable.

⚖️ What the Delhi High Court Has Done So Far

W.P.(C) 5904/2025 – Anusha Gupta & Ors. vs. NTA

  • The Delhi High Court recognized serious discrepancies between students’ originally downloaded scorecards and the final versions shown later.
  • Initially, the Court ordered a forensic investigation by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).
  • However, CFSL later informed the Court that it lacked the infrastructure to handle such a complex backend audit.
  • The Court then escalated the matter to the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) — India’s top cyber forensic agency.
  • Both the petitioners and the NTA were directed to submit:
    Download logs
    Response sheet copies
    Pen drives containing digital evidence
  • The petitioners were granted provisional access to register for JEE Advanced 2025, and their results were sealed pending investigation.
  • NCFL was instructed to complete the forensic audit and submit its sealed report by May 29, 2025.
  • However, unable to complete their report, they requested a 20-day extension on May 30.
  • The Court granted 15 additional days, making the new deadline around June 14–15.
  • The next hearing is scheduled for July 3, 2025, where the NCFL report is expected to be reviewed and further action decided.

W.P.(C) 5690/2025 – Shashank Shekhar Pandey vs. NTA

  • The petitioner alleged that he had attempted 46 questions, but the official NTA response sheet showed only 29 attempts, leading to a significantly lower score.
  • The Court found this case strikingly similar to the Anusha Gupta petition.
  • As with the previous case, the Court directed NTA to submit:
    Server audit logs
    Backend system data
All relevant technical records for forensic inspection

The matter was also referred to the NCFL, which was assigned to examine both cases together as part of a unified probe.
The petitioner was granted conditional eligibility for JEE Advanced, with his result also kept under seal until the forensic findings are complete.

But This Is No Longer Just About a Few Students

  • These two cases reveal a systemic failure, not isolated glitches.
  • Students' scores and response sheets are allegedly being changed without explanation.
  • There is no transparent redressal system.
  • NTA has not publicly addressed these issues despite court involvement and media reports.
  • This isn't just about one rank or one admission. It's about the credibility of India’s most competitive examination — and the future of lakhs of students.

A New Case That Must Be Heard:

Another student, who has chosen to remain anonymous for privacy reasons, shared a disturbing and undeniable experience:

• He had attempted 46 questions, but the response sheet shows only 43 recorded attempts. Even more bizarrely, it shows attempts for Integer-Based Questions (IBQs) that he never touched during the exam.

When he confronted the NTA, their representative told him,
“Jo dikh raha hai, use hi sach maano. Hum confirm nahi kar sakte ki data sach hai ya jhooth.”

This student has the audio recording of the NTA executive making this statement.

This is more than carelessness, and it’s an abuse of institutional power and a direct attack on the mental health, integrity, and future of honest students.

Why This Should Concern You:

JEE Main uses percentile normalization, meaning that one error in one student’s result affects everyone’s rank. Even a single wrong entry ripples across the entire system.

Now, despite ongoing court cases and clear public evidence, JEE Advanced 2025 was still scheduled, relying on these flawed, unverified results.

 Our Urgent Demands:

  1. A public and independent audit of JEE Main 2025 response sheets and score data.
  2. A transparent grievance redressal system within NTA.
  3. Mandatory digital tracking + logging for all changes to student data.
  4. Accountability for any confirmed tampering, negligence, or technical flaws.
  5. Review of all affected cases beyond just those who reached the court.
  6. A parliamentary or ministerial response to ensure long-term reform.

Why This Petition Matters:

Lakhs of dreams are on the line. Students are breaking down, parents are helpless, and institutions are silent.

If we let this go unanswered, the credibility of our national exams collapses.
