木の伐採が始まったという報道を聞いて、昨日代々木公園に行ってみたところ、確かに生きた葉っぱの枝を伐採していました。  

今朝、東京都議会議員の龍円あいりさんが、東京都からの回答を含めた状況をブログに書きました。昨日から始まった枝の剪定は、今日と水曜日にも行われる予定です。 

今回の枝切りは、建設トラックの通行など、オリンピックのライブサイト会場の作成と運営に必要なな最低限のものだそうです。 

しかし、もはや必要のない、むしろパンデミックの真ん中で感染拡大に繋がるはずと思われる、パブリックビューイング会場のために1本の枝を切るだけでいけないと思います。

ライブサイトが当初の計画通りに実施されるべきかどうか、透明性のある公な議論と検討をを十分行うためにも、剪定は一旦停止すべきだと思います。

皆さん、自分の選挙地区の代表者及び東京都に連絡したり、SNSでの投稿を続けたりしてください（その場合、ハッシュタグ「＃代々木公園の木々をオリンピックから守りましょう」もご利用ください）。 

また、私自身は仕事の都合で今日は代々木公園に行けませんが、行ける方は直接抗議し、木の剪定を一旦休憩させるために声をあげることをお勧めしたいです。（可能であれば、正式なデモをオーガナイズしたいですが、仕事の都合で残念ながら私はできません。デモの経験のある方が何かを今日できれば、是非お願いしたいと思います。もし何かを計画すれば、私に伝えて頂ければ皆様に情報を転送致します。）

Hearing reports that tree trimming had begun, I went to Yoyogi Park yesterday and indeed they were cutting down live leafy branches.  

This morning, Tokyo Assembly member Airi Ryuen posted a blog with details on the situation, including the answer she received from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Trimming of branches indeed began yesterday, and is scheduled to continue today and Wednesday. 

They say that the branch trimming is the minimum necessary to enable construction of the Olympic Live Site, including for passage of trucks for the construction. 

However, even cutting one branch is too much for a public viewing site that is no longer necessary, and indeed would lead to infection spread during a pandemic. 

The trimming needs to be put on pause, in order to enable a transparent public discussion about whether the Live Site should be implemented as originally planned.

Everyone please contact your elected representatives and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, as well as continue to post on social media (and please use the hashtag ＃代々木公園の木々をオリンピックから守りましょう). 

Also, I am not able to go to Yoyogi Park myself today due to work commitments, but anyone who is able to I recommend you to do in order to protest in person and hopefully get them to pause the tree trimming. I wish I were able to organize a demo, but I can't, and hope that perhaps someone with time today might be able to do so. If anyone is able to organize something today, please let me know and I will tell everyone about it.
