PREVENT THE DESTRUCTION OF RAJAKALUVES & LAKES IN BENGALURU
Friends, today is the LAST DAY to submit objections to a deeply harmful notification by the Urban Development Department (UDD) - Ref: 468 MNJ 2025(E)
👉 The Government has issued an ill-advised notification to reduce Rajakaluve Buffer Zones. This is nothing but an attempt at land grab and concretisation. This will not just kill rajakaluves, but it will also kill our lakes, as they are interconnected ecosystems.
If allowed, this move will:
- Destroy the last remaining 2% of green-blue resources in Bengaluru
- Destroy lakhs of trees
- Pollute storm water drains and lake waters
- Erase biodiversity
- Deepen climate change impacts
- Increase flooding risks
- Worsen our groundwater crisis
- This is unscientific, unsustainable, and unacceptable. Bengaluru will be left a concrete desert, unlivable for all of us.
