Добрый день! В прошлом обновлении я публиковала ссылку для подписи одной очень важной петиции - Help circus polar bears start new happy life! Помогите полярным медведям начать новую счастливую жизнь! https://www.change.org/p/the-president-of-the-russian-federation-help-circus-polar-bears-start-new-happy-life В голове не укладывается, как можно животное, которое исчезает с лица планеты (оставляю в стороне вопрос о том, как можно вообще любое другое животное) использовать в цирке для сиюминутного увеселения толпы.

В этой петиции много важных моментов, и я хочу, чтобы мы запомнили их.

Четыре белые медведицы Умка, Дора, Кнопа и Мотя – единственная группа белых медведей, используемая в цирковых представлениях.

Медведицы были пленены крошками в 2001 году на Земле Франца Иосифа, их искали с вертолёта. Держат медведей цирковые актёры Юрий Хохлов и Юлия Денисенко, работающие с белыми медведями всю жизнь.

Медведицы живут в ритме постоянных гастролей и большую часть своей жизни проводят в транспортных клетках (без пола) чуть большего размера, чем они сами. У Кнопы на голове залысины, потому что она не оставляет попыток вернуть себе свободу и трётся о металлические прутья клетки. У неё нарушен аппетит из-за стресса и неподходящего питания (помимо рыбы и коровьего мяса медведи едят хлеб, яблоки, яйца, печенье, шоколад и сгущенное молоко).

Медведи носят металлические намордники. Из-за этого животные чрезвычайно нервничают и постоянно пытаются снять их с себя, даже во время выступлений.

Среда обитания медведей – тихая ледяная пустыня. Белые медведи эволюционировали согласно этим природным условиям, и все их качества – физические и психологические – тесно связаны со средой обитания, но Умка, Дора, Кнопа и Мотя ежедневно оглушены шумом музыки, громом звуковых эффектов, хлопков и возгласов публики, ослеплены яркой и острой иллюминацией, прожекторами и софитами.

Умка, Дора, Кнопа и Мотя также как и другие цирковые животные, испытывают постоянный стресс – они не только стеснены пространством, но и не могут сделать выбор, их воля подавлена. Из-за этого они раскачиваются из стороны в сторону, кусают прутья клетки и собственные лапы. Это СТРЕСС – бесконечный, непреходящий.

Нужны ли ещё доказательства тому, что это и есть жестокое обращение с животными?! Но Умка, Дора, Кнопа и Мотя бесправны, они не подпадают под закон, принятый в декабре 2018-го года. Их тесные клетки и жизнь в неволе не волнуют никого. А что будет с Умкой, Дорой, Кнопой и Мотей, если, не дай Бог, что-то случится с их дрессировщиками? Они УЙДУТ на радугу, ибо зверь слушается только одного, того, кого с детства считает за маму, и кто с детства подавил его волю.

Белые медведи – огромные и мощные животные, живущие в обширном открытом пространстве, и только оно позволяет им оставаться здоровыми и счастливыми.

Взаимодействие людей с животными должно строиться на уважении и понимании, а не на подчинении и принудительных действиях.

Эта четвёрка должна стать последними пленными белыми медведями России, и эта четвёрка должна быть помещена заповедник с подходящими климатическими условиями и условиями содержания, который станет их новым домом.

У нас сейчас много говорят о том, что вот, мол, надо думать и о цирковых актёрах, они же потеряют профессию. Но разве не многим, очень многим, пришлось потерять профессию?! Или те, что в девяностые стояли на рынках с двумя-тремя высшими образованиями не в счёт?! Я и сама, дополнительно к основной, освоила ещё 2 профессии, и ничего. Почему нужно «жалеть» именно дрессировщиков?

В прошлом у нас не было всех знаний, которыми мы обладаем сейчас. И это было причиной, по которой медведи использовались в развлекательных программах. В наши дни люди пробуждаются и отказываются от шоу с животными. Люди ищут не праздных развлечений, а полноценного сосуществования с животными. Теперь важными стали понимание, сострадание, уважение животных, а не их эксплуатация и искусственный праздник. Почему бы тем, кто наверху, не прислушаться к гласу народа? Умка, Дора, Кнопа и Мотя (и другие цирковые животные) заслуживают реабилитации и спокойной счастливой жизни. Подписывайте, распространяйте петиции:

KHOKHLOVA AND DENISENKO, REFUSE FROM PERFORMANCES WITH POLAR BEARS!

These four polar she-bears is the only group of polar bears used in circus performances.

They were captured in 2001 on Franz Josef Land during 10-day of search from the helicopter. The bears are kept by Circus actors Yuri Khohlov and Yulia Denisenko working with polar bears all their life.

We are sincerely interested in the welfare as animals living in Russia as the welfare of Russian society and traditions.

Now, when there are so many ways of organization of spectacular performances without using wild animals in circuses, we believe that Russian Circus will make right choice concerning to ongoing and future development of Circus Art.

Numerous reasons and scientific researches prove that interaction of people with animals should be constructed on respect and understanding, not on subjugation and forced actions.

Polar Bear Circus is Russian circus entertainment performing on the arenas of different circuses. These polar she-bears are constantly touring along the country.

4 polar she-bears named Umka, Dora, Knopa and Motya live in transportation cages since their childhood.

The bears live in cages a little bigger of their body size. The floor is absent, and bears have to stay on metal bars. Bears don’t give up trying to escape from the captivity. Knopa has got bald patches on her head because all the time she is rubbing at the metal bars. She also has got bad appetite due stress and unsuitable diet.

The bears are forced to wear metal muzzles. Because of that the animals are extremely nervous and all the time bears try to take them off, even during the performances.

Besides the fish and meat of cows the bears constantly eat bread, apples, eggs, biscuits, chocolate and condensed milk.

Polar Bears are huge and powerful animals, living into large open space, which allows them to stay healthy and happy.

They used to live in cold and calm environment. Polar bears were evolving according to these natural circumstances and all their features – both physical and psychological are closely connected with it.

In circus all their lives polar bears are forced to go through the stress, caused by:

- extremely small and limited space;

- captive state, impossibility of making choices, the loss of will;

- noises from music, sound effects, claps and exclamations of public;

- bright and sharp illumination of spotlights and stage lighting;

- poor diet.

All the she-bears express different signs of stereotypical behaviour such as:

- swaying;

- pacing;

- self-mutilation (chewing own paws and rubbing their heads against metal bars of cages);

- chewing the bars of the cages.

Solution

A lot of things are made for animal welfare around the world. Russia also shows the interest in improving the plight of the animals.

Since polar bears in Russia are in IUCN Red List and included in the Special Projects of Animal Protection (The Polar Bear Programme), we are sure these Circus Polar she-Bears deserve all the best that people could do for them. This four should become the Last Captive Polar Bears of Russia.

Our request is addressed to the owners of these polar she-bears, Russian State Circus, authorities of Russia and everyone who also shares the sympathy for circus polar bears. We ask you to:

- To stop using polar bears (including these four polar she-bears) for the performances and shows in circuses and any enterprises in Russia.

- To improve the living conditions of polar she-bears through relocation them to the zoo or sanctuary with suitable climatic circumstances and living conditions, which will become their new home.

- To stop capturing polar bears from the wild for performances and shows.

In modern days people are awakened and reject the shows with the animals. People are looking for full and valuable co-existence with the animals, not for indolent entertainments. Now understanding, compassion and respect towards the animals have become important, not an exploitation or artificial feast. And these four she-bears also deserve the rehabilitation and peaceful happy life.

In the past we haven’t got all the knowledge we’ve got in modern days. And it was the reason, why the bears were used for performances and entertainment. Now the knowledge and understanding of the bears are the reason to give them what they need and to organize as appropriate living conditions as possible with contemporary methods and resources.
