Сначала Ксюша подумала, что она забыла впустить мелкую и та скулит. Встала с кровати и пока шла к двери, увидела, что собака на месте. Жалобный вой за окном не прекращался. Уснуть было невозможно. Она вышла на улицу. Прямо рядом с их квартирой, к железным прутьям слесарки был привязан долматинец. В ночи ей показалось, что он невысокого роста. «Щенок», - так и подумала. Увидев человека, собака заскулила еще сильней.
Они с мамой подбирают всех выбрасываемых в округе кошек. Мы помогаем их стерилизовать, лечить. Недавно к ним добавилась и маленькая собачка, которой тоже понадобилось серьезное лечение.
Но чтобы такого пса…
Ксюше с трудом удалось развязать туго замотанный вокруг прутьев ремень. Она завела собаку в дом.
Через два дня позвонила нам. «Такой добрый, с кошками нашими подружился, знает некоторые команды. Вот только на заднюю лапу почти не наступает. Я пыталась посмотреть что там – чуть не укусил. Мы назвали его Арчи».
Поехали в клинику (см. фото в группе). Осмотр. Рентген. Шок. У пса уже прооперированная лапа. Стоит пластина. Похоже, сломана крестовина, то есть к уже застарелой травме, скорей всего, добавилась новая. А главное – ярко выраженный артроз в коленном суставе. Это либо полностью менять сустав, что делают только в Новосибирске безумно дорого и результат всегда непредсказуем, либо жить на поддерживающих препаратах. Не исключено, что придется снимать пластину, протезировать сломанную крестовидную связку или менять саму пластину, сейчас она упирается в кость. Колено у него болит, это точно. Конечность дистрофична, потому что он не пользуется ею. Песик кастрирован, ему примерно три года.
Пока ехали сюда, мы обсуждали, что сразу, как вылечим лапу, начнем Арчи пристраивать. Красивого и породистого заберут быстро.
Возвращались назад с совсем другим настроением.
- Изуродованное животное никто не возьмет. Если противовоспалительные не помогут, придется оперировать.
- Пусть остается у нас. Как-нибудь проживем.
Заехали в аптеку, набрали лекарств. На душе нехорошо.
Человека, который выбросил Арчи, трудно назвать негодяем. Все-таки кастрировал пса, операцию на лапе сделал. Когда пес стал мешать, он рассуждал, видимо, так же, как мы: приюта хорошего нет, инвалида никуда не пристроишь. Усыпить не поднялась рука. Решил вычеркнуть его из своей жизни таким вот образом - привязав к металлической двери хрущевки. В расчете на то, что найдется добрая душа, которая заберет. А, может, и знал о существовании этой доброй души. Законченный циник и эгоист. Хуже, бл…! Хуже!!
Местные бродячие псы могли этого несчастного разорвать, пока он был на привязи, там же бы и погиб.
Ксюшу мы знаем давно. Семья бедная, квартира однокомнатная. Но животным здесь всегда хорошо. Однако, их уже перебор, а Арчи совсем немаленький.
Через неделю нас опять ждут в клинике для принятия окончательного решения по больной лапе.

The plaintive howling outside the window did not stop. It was impossible to sleep. She went outside. Right next to their apartment, a Dalmatian was tied to the iron bars of a locksmith. In the night, she thought he was short. A puppy, she thought. When the dog saw the woman he whined even more.
She and her mother pick up all the cats that are thrown out in the area. We help them to sterilize and treat them. Recently, a small dog was added to them, which also needed serious treatment.
But to have such a dog…
Ksenia barely managed to untie the belt tightly wrapped around the bars. She took the dog into the house.
Two days later, she called us. "So kind, made friends with our cats, knows some commands. That's just on the hind leg almost does not come. I tried to see what was there- he almost bit me. We called him Archie."
We went to the clinic (see the photo in the group). Inspection. X-ray. Shock. The dog already has an operated paw. There is a base. It seems that the crosspiece is broken, that is, a new one has most likely been added to the already long-standing injury. And most importantly-pronounced osteoarthritis in the knee joint. This is either to completely change the joint, which is done only in Novosibirsk insanely expensive and the result is always unpredictable, or to live on supportive drugs. It is possible that you will have to remove the base, replace the broken cruciate ligament or change the plate itself, now it rests on the bone. His knee hurts, that's for sure. The limb is dystrophic because he doesn't use it. The dog is neutered, he is about three years old.
On the way here, we discussed that as soon as we cured the paw, we would begin to find a home for Archie. Beautiful and thoroughbred will be taken away quickly.
We came back with a completely different mood.
"No one will take a mutilated animal. If anti-inflammatory drugs do not help, you will have to operate.
"Let him stay with us. We'll live somehow.
We stopped at the pharmacy, collected medicines. My heart was not at it`s place.
The man who threw Archie out is hardly call a scoundrel. After all, he castrated the dog, and performed surgery on his paw. When the dog began to interfere, he probably reasoned the same way as we did: there is no good shelter, you can't put a disabled person anywhere. The hand did not rise to put him to sleep. I decided to cut him out of my life in this way-by tying him to the metal door of the apartment In the hope that there will be a kind soul who will take it away. Or maybe he knew about the existence of this kind soul. A complete cynic and egoist. Worse, bl...! Worse!!
Local stray dogs could have torn this poor dog apart while he was on a leash, and there he would have died.
We have known Ksenia for a long time. The family is poor, the apartment is one-room. But the animals are always happy here. However, they are already too much, and Archie is quite big.
A week later, we are again expected at the clinic to make a final decision on the sick paw.
