Overdevelopment in St Pete Beach
Overdevelopment in St Pete Beach
The Issue
Would you like to see St Pete Beach become like Clearwater, Miami Beach or Panama City Beach?
Do you want to see high-rise hotel towers littering the beach and blocking the views?
Would you like more traffic and congestion in St Pete Beach?
Do you want to see more never-ending construction on Gulf Blvd?
If your answer is "NO," then please support his petition to oppose the TradeWinds Resort expansion.
The expansion proposes:
- 650 new hotel room
- 3 new high-rise buildings of 11 & 12 stories (same height as the Grand Plaza)
- 3 new parking garages with 2,113 parking spaces
- 33,000sf of conference facilities
- 20,000sf ballroom
- 2024-2034 planned construction on Gulf Blvd
Purpose of this Petition – we request that the mayor, city commission, planning division, and zoning division:
- Reject any plans that allow for 650 additional hotel rooms
- Reject any plans to build new beach-front high-rise building
- Reject any plans to build 2,113 parking spaces
- Reject any plan for more conference and ballroom facilities
Protecting St Pete Beach – St Pete Beach is a hidden gem among the coastal cities of Florida. We have the #1 beach in the US. We have local businesses and restaurants rather than chains and tourist traps. We don’t have the high-rises and congestion like Clearwater, Ft Lauderdale, or Miami. We are a town of families who live here, raise their children here, and often live out our twilight here. We are deeply invested in the local community.
It is our responsibility to make sure that St Pete Beach maintains its charm and high standard of living for those already living here. We must make sure that all large development projects align with the values of our residents and contribute to the community in a positive way.
