Stop MoCo's Plan to Create a Bus Depot at Seven Locks & Wooton Parkway

The Issue

Montgomery County has proposed redeveloping the roughly 40-acre site of the Detention Center facility in Rockville (just off Falls Road, Exit 5 at Seven Locks Road and Wooton Parking) to also include a bus depot with more than 200 buses and a “restoration center.” None of the surrounding residential communities or businesses that have an interest in the type, safety, traffic, and other conditions of use in for this land have been consulted.

The proposed MCPS Bus Depot will have an unreasonable detrimental impact on the area, including more than 500 surrounding homes in the area. Particular harmful results include diminished property values, increased noise pollution, significant increase of air pollution, traffic congestion and delays, increased pedestrian hazards, and additional safety concerns.

Bus arrivals and departures will create a significant amount of noise pollution to a very residential area. The intersection and nearby roads are already crowded and accident prone and this project will add a significant amount of traffic and congestion to the area with 200+ buses moving in and out of this depot. Of particular note is the increases traffic that this will add to the already highly congested Julius West area during mornings and afternoons.

Please oppose any and all Proposals seeking to rehabilitate the MCDC and police station property into a MCPS Bus Depot.
