School board commits to protecting trans students

Damien launched a campaign urging his school board to adopt a policy that lets trans* students use their chosen names and gender markers, and introduces trans-awareness training for staff.

More than 26,000 people signed Damien's petition, and as momentum grew, local media took notice; the Windsor Star, CBC, and CTV News all covered the story.

Damien presented the petition to the board, and after hearing him speak, trustees committed to new trans-inclusive policies. These rules now apply to all 45 schools in the district, helping students feel safer and better supported.
