No mother should be left behind

Doaa and her husband Qasem were elated when they received an email from the Canadian Embassy offering hope: their family could be evacuated from Gaza after months of living through bombs, bloodshed, and terror.

“They are physically in Canada, but emotionally, they are still in Gaza because their mother is not with them.”

But that joy was shattered when they saw Doaa's name was missing from the list. Qasem and their three children were cleared to leave, but Doaa was not.

As Matthew Behrens of the Rural Refugee Rights Network explains, this not only lacks compassion, it also violates Canada's own Gaza visa policy. He's launched a petition demanding the government reunites this family.
