• Who is Sonam Wangchuk?
  Sonam Wangchuk is a renowned engineer, educator, and climate activist from Ladakh. Born in 1966, he is the real-life inspiration behind the character Phunsukh Wangdu in the film 3 Idiots. For decades, he has dedicated his life to uplifting Ladakh's people through innovation and peaceful advocacy. He founded the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), transforming education in remote Himalayan areas. Today, at 59, he stands as a symbol of hope for India's fragile ecosystems and tribal communities, but he has been silenced through arbitrary arrest.

• His Contributions to the Nation
  Sonam Wangchuk has given India practical solutions that benefit millions, especially in harsh terrains like Ladakh. He invented "Ice Stupas"—artificial glaciers that store winter water for summer farming, combating drought in arid regions. He developed solar-heated mud buildings to provide warm homes in freezing deserts without relying on fuel. For the Indian Army, he created portable solar-powered tents that shelter soldiers in extreme cold at high altitudes like 11,500 feet. His work in education reformed schools in Ladakh, helping thousands of children succeed where traditional systems failed. In 2018, he received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his innovations in education and sustainability. These gifts to India show a man who builds, not breaks—yet he is treated as a criminal.

• His Patriotism and Nationalism
  Sonam Wangchuk is a true deshbhakt who has always put India first. In 2019, he publicly supported the abrogation of Article 370, thanking the BJP government for granting Ladakh Union Territory status and calling it a step toward progress. He promoted the "Boycott China" movement during border tensions, urging Indians to support local innovation over foreign goods. His father, Sonam Wangyal, fasted for Ladakh's rights in 1989, and Wangchuk carries that legacy of peaceful nationalism. He has stood against external threats while fighting for India's environment and people. How can a man who equipped our soldiers and boosted national pride be labeled anti-national?

• The Injustice: Suppression by the Government
  For years, Wangchuk has peacefully protested for Ladakh's rights, including statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule to protect its land, culture, and ecology—promises made by the BJP in 2019 but never fulfilled. After ignored pleas, protests turned chaotic on September 24, 2025, with four innocent civilians killed by CRPF firing—yet no one is held accountable. Instead, on September 26, 2025, Wangchuk was arrested under the draconian National Security Act (NSA) without clear evidence, just before a press conference. His home was ransacked, his NGO's FCRA license canceled on baseless grounds, and internet services suspended across Leh to stifle voices. This is not justice; it's a crackdown on dissent in the world's largest democracy. Once hailed by the government, he is now branded a "terrorist" for speaking truth.

• The Appeal: Demand His Immediate Release
  In a democracy like India, peaceful voices must not be jailed. Sonam Wangchuk has contributed more to this nation than many in power—building schools, saving water, and defending borders. His arrest under NSA, without trial or evidence, violates our Constitution's spirit of freedom and justice. We live in a country where rape accused like Asaram and Ram Rahim roam freely on parole, Terror accused like Pragya Thakur roam freely And revolutionary like Sonam Wangchuk is arrested & sent behind bars.
