Introduce a safe crossing on Kirkdale for Eliot Bank Primary School users

The Issue

Traffic calming measures and larger pedestrian zones have been introduced at the junction of Thorpewood Avenue and Kirkdale in early Summer of this year, which have been a welcome improvement. However, no safe crossing has been put in, and this is a concern for users and residents of this area, in particular for the children and carers crossing Kirkdale on the school run. A safe crossing in the form of a zebra crossing or a Crossing Guard seems essential to ensure safety and to prevent any future accidents. With Eliot Bank having taken on a further 60 pupils for this new school year September 2012, this is an even more pressing issue.
