Reject proposals to transfer development land leases from Hereford United to Mr Tommy Agombar

The Issue

We, the undersigned, call upon Herefordshire County Council to protect the future of football in the city and reject the approaches of Mr Tommy Agombar to tansfer the leases held by the club to his private companies.

Mr Agombar purchased Hereford United for the sum of £2. The club was virtually bankrupt but owned valuable leases on development land at either end of the ground.

Mr Agombar has no link to the area and his sole aim is to separate the club from its only asset.

Under Mr Agombars ownership the club has been thrown out of the conference for failing to pay its players and staff. This despite Mr Agombars promises to do so.

Many loyal servants of the club are facing hardship as a result of Mr Agombars cynical purchase.

To date Mr Agombar has spent just £2 in pursuit of his aim to asset strip the club.

Mr Agombar has a colourful past and has a conviction for stealing freight from trucks.

It is likely that he would fail the FA "fit and proper test".

He is not a person who the local authority should be meeting with let alone reassigning valuable development land.

The profits from these leases should benefit the football club, its creditors and the future of football in the City.
