Recently online I have seen several screen grabs from tv shows which have been making "jokes" about rape and assault. As I run an awareness page to help spread the facts and give survivors somewhere they can turn if they wish to speak about their ordeal and have experience with hearing people's stories of survival, I can only imagine how difficult it is to have survived such a brutal attack to then see what happened depicted on tv as a means of evoking laughs from its audience. This is NOT okay! Making rape "jokes" on tv not only hurts survivors more by making what happened to them seem humerous and lighthearted and not at all how it really is, but it also sends out the message that rape and assault is acceptable and plays down all our efforts to stop the horrible crime and make people aware of the statistics! Stand with me and say No More to making rape seem like a joke on tv and other media. IT'S NOT!
