      Hougang New Town, Singapore

"The incident happened on April 27, around 10.30pm and lasted about one to two hours.

"It started with a stray dog that was around the neighborhood for years already. After that, some residents made a police report regarding this stray dog.

"The police activated the AVA to come down to catch the dog. They were trying to catch it with a spiked rope. The dog was bleeding and was barking very loudly.

"Residents living in Hougang heard it and immediately rushed to the scene to defend the dog to prevent it from being caught and possibly put down.

"The commotion ended with at least 50 to 60 people at the scene with 6 police officers, a group of welfare association members and a few AVA catchers.

"In the end the dog was safely brought to a vet and to the Animal Welfare Association."

AVA staff Bernard made a promise to all the residents present that night that the dog will be released to the shelter once the hospital clears it. Now you are refusing to let the dog go, insisting that the dog be brought back to AVA for 'further investigations'. Making accusations that the dog may bite as one reason is stupid as we are sending the dog to a shelter and not back onto the streets.

We would like you to release "Xiao Hei" immediately from AVA and send it to the dog shelter immediately.

I believe "Xiao Hei" had brought lot of happiness around the Hougang residents , therefore people are so willing to protect it and preventing it from being put down.

We need your help to sign this petition to prevent AVA from putting down and refusing to let go of "Xiao Hei"

Release "Xiao Hei" and send it to the animal shelter !

Also , Please stop using Francis as a representative of the AVA . His using cruel methods to catch these dogs that is also counted as abusive.

Sincerely,

AVA has claimed that , they had been liaising with animal welfare group, Noah’s Ark CARES, on the re-homing for "Xiao Heii". They said they have confirmed that Noah's Ark CARES , will be collecting "Xiao Heii" today (5/1/2013) . We will await for AVA's evidence to prove that this is a fact.

It appears that the dog was happy in the neighborhood as were his guardians. Perhaps the people who turned him in were new to the area and unaware of his place in the community. And don't tell anyone that a dog will go to a shelter when you seem to want him euthanized as a nuisance animal. That will only lead to trouble the next time you want to placate concerned citizens whether it be now or in the future. Have a heart, save this dog. Let people who know and care about him step up.
