Put climate change warning labels on gas pumps

Put climate change warning labels on gas pumps
The Issue
Hey! My name is Shivani, and I’m an eighteen year old who lives near Toronto, Canada. I’ve been worried about climate change ever since I first learned about it in grade three, and I decided then and there that I was going to do everything I could to protect our one and only home. This summer I’m excited to be working with an organization that is doing exactly that.
Our Horizon is a non-profit organization that’s working to get climate change and air pollution warning labels on gas pump nozzles. You may be wondering, how is a simple sticker supposed to change anything?
We talk about climate change, tar sands, and pipelines, but we never question the simple act of pumping gas. There is a complete disconnect between our everyday actions and their consequences. These stickers make us connect the dots, and can help shape a social environment that’s more open to action on these issues. They are a catalyst for change.
To learn more, please watch a TEDx talk on the idea by the founder of Our Horizon.
In Canada, West Vancouver recently decided to pursue this idea. In the United States, our friends in Berkeley are doing the same. The final vote for both communities is happening this September and we need your help - no matter where in the world you live.
We’re asking you to sign this petition to show your support for our idea. The more signatures it has, the more likely it is that these communities, and local politicians all across the globe, will adopt this idea. With the warning labels already on cigarette packages all across the world, this idea has been primed to go global.
