My name's Doug Gillett and I'm a former employee of APN News and Media.

For the past 18 month I've been looking over my shoulder.

I've got to be honest, it's been a nightmare.

My family is worried about me.

You see, I had the nerve to object to a practice of APN News and Media general managers secretly recording conversations in company vehicles.

I threatened to go to the media.

They didn't appreciate the irony.

Since then, I have been the victim of a campaign of victimisation and harassment that has had a serious impact upon my health.

I took a stand to protect the privacy of this company's employees and have paid a heavy price.

My personal computer has been hacked, my mobile phone tapped and my rubbish and personal belongings rifled through.

Private investigators have placed me under surveillance.

I have been the victim of malicious rumours designed to destroy my reputation and credibility.

I have feared for my personal safety.

I have come away from this situation feeling like I have been raped.

I feel like I've been held captive. I don't want to do the things I enjoy doing. I don't want to see my mates.

These crimes against privacy and common decency have been perpetrated by the jaded editorial executives of a company that has spun out of control.
