The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is a federal agency focused on protecting the health of all Americans as well as providing necessary human services, particularly for the vulnerable segments of the population. Mainly operating through its eleven operating divisions, including bodies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), HHS is dedicated to implementing policies that enhance national health standards. The services range from public health emergency preparedness, provision of health insurance, pediatric health, substance abuse and mental health treatment, to regulating food and pharmaceuticals among many others.
