Thad Cochran was an influential American politician and a member of the Republican Party. Born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, in 1937, he served his nation and state with distinction in several political offices, including three terms in the House of Representatives from 1973 to 1978 and then as a U.S Senator from 1978 to 2018. Aside from his lengthy tenure, Cochran was noteworthy for his leadership and influence, particularly in matters of appropriations and agriculture. His moderate stance and willingness to work across party lines made him a well-respected figure within and beyond his party. He passed away in May 2019.
