Randall Woodfin is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 34th and current mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. A member of the Democratic Party, Woodfin was elected mayor after defeating incumbent William A. Bell in the October 3, 2017, runoff election. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he was the president of the Birmingham City School Board from 2013 to 2015 and a city attorney for Birmingham from 2009 to 2017. Woodfin has been an active figure in Birmingham's education system, serving as a board member for the Birmingham Board of Education. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Samford University. His career reflects a strong commitment to public service and community development within Birmingham.
