Maggie Hassan is an American attorney and politician serving as the junior United States Senator from New Hampshire since 2017. Prior to her senatorial position, Hassan served as the 81st Governor of New Hampshire from 2013 to 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she graduated from Brown University and earned her J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law. As a member of the Democratic Party, Hassan has consistently advocated for affordable health care, quality public education, and climate change mitigation. She has a keen interest in national defense issues as well as a commitment to bolstering small businesses.
