"Le Nozze di Figaro" is an iconic four-act opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1786. Based on Pierre Beaumarchais' comedic play "La folle journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro," it tells a witty, romantic, and chaotic story of love tossed around by class struggle and comedic mishaps. Set in the Count Almaviva's grand estate near Seville, Spain, it follows the plans of the wily Figaro and his fiancée Susanna to outwit their master, Count Almaviva, who intends to seduce Susanna before her wedding. Mozart's sublime music combined with Lorenzo Da Ponte's clever libretto delivers an intriguing exploration of love, betrayal, desire, and the pursuit of happiness.
