Kevin Ray Hern is an American businessman and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 1st congressional district since 2018. Born in 1961 in Missouri and raised in Pope County, Arkansas, Hern pursued higher education at Arkansas Tech University, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical Engineering. He briefly attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before joining McDonald's, where he began a successful career. By 1997, Hern purchased his first McDonald's franchise, and by 1999 he had earned an MBA in Finance and Business from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Relocating to Oklahoma in 1999, he expanded his franchise ownership to 18 locations in the Tulsa area. Before his congressional service, Hern worked as an aerospace engineer at Rockwell International and as CEO and Managing Partner of Firstrike Group. A Republican, he has been actively representing Oklahoma's district in Congress and continues to focus on business-related legislative initiatives.
