Josh Harder is an American politician and venture capital investor serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 9th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he first defeated Republican incumbent Jeff Denham in 2018. In the 2020 redistricting, Harder successfully transitioned to representing the new 9th district, which includes most of San Joaquin County. He was reelected with a larger margin in 2020, demonstrating increased support within his constituency. Harder earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University, having also graduated from Modesto High School. His professional background includes roles as a Course Instructor at Modesto Junior College, Consultant at Boston Consulting Group, and Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners.
