Joseph A. "Joe" Griffo is a seasoned American politician affiliated with the Republican Party. Currently, he serves as a New York State Senator representing the 53rd district, which encompasses parts of Chenango, Oneida, and Madison Counties, a role he has held since 2023. Previously, Griffo represented the 47th district in the State Senate from 2007 to 2022. His political career began at the local level, where he served as the Mayor of Rome, New York, from 1992 to 2003. He then became the Executive of Oneida County from 2003 to 2006. In the State Senate, Griffo holds the position of Deputy Minority Leader, reflecting his significant influence and leadership within the Republican caucus.
