Joseph Cervantes is an American politician and attorney based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. A committed member of the Democratic Party, he has served as a member of the New Mexico Senate representing the 31st District since 2012. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Cervantes was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012. In addition to his political career, he is an attorney in private practice, serving as Attorney Principal at Cervantes Law Firm, PC, and previously at Cervantes, Scherr, Legate, PLLC. His academic background includes a Bachelor's and a Master's in Architecture from the University of New Mexico and California Polytechnic University respectively, and a JD from the University of New Mexico. Cervantes began his education at Las Cruces High School.
