John Moor is the current Mayor of Asbury Park, New Jersey. He was first elected in 2014 and has since been reelected multiple times, most recently winning a third term with 58% of the vote in 2022. Moor began his career with the city in 1980 and retired as the Deputy Director of the Department of Public Maintenance in 2011. Moor has a long history of public service, starting with his work for the city in 1980. He served on the Asbury Park Board of Education for 12 years and was elected to the City Council in 2014 before becoming mayor. As mayor, Moor has focused on fiscal conservatism, stabilizing municipal tax rates, and improving Asbury Park's Moody rating. He has also led the city's response to COVID-19 and implemented policies on inclusionary zoning and rent control.
