Jim Tomes is an American politician and a prominent member of the Republican Party. He has served as a member of the Indiana Senate, representing District 49 since 2010. Known for his strong advocacy of gun rights, he is a co-founder and director of the 2nd Amendment Patriots, a grassroots organization dedicated to protecting Second Amendment rights since January 1999. Tomes has been supported by the Tea Party and is a staunch proponent of conservative values, including smaller government, the right to life, and gun rights. Before his political career, he worked for 33 years as a trucker and served as a union steward. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and holds a high school diploma from Mater Dei High School.
