The Idaho State Senate is the upper chamber of the Idaho State Legislature, the state's legislative branch. Constituting of 35 members, these senators are elected for two-year terms from single-member districts across the state without term limits. Each of these districts has a population of about 44,788 people, as of the 2010 Census. The responsibilities of the Idaho State Senate include passing state laws, regulating state taxes, proposing state constitutional amendments, and confirming appointments made by the governor. Its legislative sessions are based in the Idaho State Capitol building in Boise.
