Hulusi Akar

Hulusi Akar is a prominent Turkish military official who serves as Turkey's Minister of National Defence. Born in 1952, he has held significant roles in the Turkish Armed Forces, including the post of Commander of the Turkish Land Forces and later, Chief of the General Staff. Known for his strategic capabilities and keen insight, Akar played a critical role in suppressing the 2016 attempted coup in Turkey. An alum of the Turkish Military Academy and Army War College, he stands as a decisive figure in Turkey's defence and security policies.
