Hugo López Gatell

Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez is a prominent Mexican epidemiologist and Deputy Secretary of Prevention and Health Promotion in the Mexican Secretariat of Health. He has played a critical role in Mexico's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, heading the country's nightly press conferences and providing regular updates to the public. Before occupying his current position, López-Gatell spent many years in academia, earning his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and his doctorate in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
