Guy Parmelin

Guy Parmelin is a well-respected Swiss politician who has been a member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2016. Born in Bursins, Switzerland, in 1959, Parmelin was affiliated with the Swiss People's Party prior to his election into the Federal Council. In 2021, he became the President of Switzerland (a position that rotates yearly among the Federal Councillors). Noted for his steady leadership and extensive political experience, he has been an important figure in Swiss practice of consensus politics, specializing in areas such as military, economics, and agriculture. Prior to his political career, he worked as a winemaker. Today, he is considered one of Switzerland's most instrumental and influential policymakers.
