Gustavo Petro

Gustavo Petro is a renowned Colombian politician and economist, born on 19th April 1960. He served as the mayor of Bogotá from 2012 to 2014, however, his term was marked by controversy which saw him removed and then reinstated. Before his mayoralty, Petro was a member of the revolutionary guerrilla group, M-19, and later transitioned into mainstream politics. He is widely recognized for his robust leftist views, having led Colombia Humana, a political movement promoting progressive ideologies. His political career has been marked by multiple bids for the presidency, emphasizing issues like inequality, poverty, and climate change.
