The Government of Ghana operates under a constitutional democracy that follows a multi-party system. The government structure comprises of three distinct but complementary arms: the Executive, led by the President who is both the head of state and government; the Legislature, which is unicameral and consists of the 275-member Parliament; and the Judiciary, independent and vested with the judicial power of the nation. It largely operates based on the constitution, which dictates the political framework and legal rules of the country. Furthermore, the government system also encompasses diverse local government bodies to ensure governance and administrative affairs at the community level.
