Ban apps like Sarahah where my daughter was told to “KILL HERSELF”

I have been scared, broken and sick to my stomach ever since I read messages about my 13-year-old daughter including, “I hope SHE KILLS HERSELF. Seriously nobody will care”. No one, especially our youth, should have to read messages like this about them. These messages were sent through an app called Sarahah, which can be downloaded for free on both the App Store and on Google Play. Sarahah is an app where people can make anonymous accounts and send anonymous messages to and about others. Because of the anonymous nature of the app, Sarahah has become what users describe as “an app breeding suicides” and “a breeding ground for hate”. My daughter and I have been shattered by this app, and tragically another teenager, in the UK, was found hanged early in 2017 after allegedly being bullied on a similar app called Sayat.Me, which was shut down in May. Both the App Store and Google Play have policies against apps that facilitate bullying, harassment or self harm. Why then is Sarahah still available on these platforms? No parent can stomach this abuse of their children and I cannot even imagine losing my beautiful, sweet girl to suicide. This is why we need to protect our children. I read an article on ‘Dolly’, a 14 year old, who after so much bullying, took her life just after the New Year. Dolly felt that her only way out was suicide. I do not want my daughter or any other to become the next Dolly. App Store and Google Play - help us protect our most vulnerable and ban bullying apps like Sarahah now. #speakevenifyourvoiceshakes #doitfordolly

Call on Google, Amazon, Apple & Facebook to save Net Neutrality!

On December 14th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is expected to take up a proposal to repeal Net Neutrality. The plan the repeal Net Neutrality is expected to be successful.                      As such, we'd like to extend this opportunity to                Google, Amazon, Apple & Facebook to do something great...Save The Internet!   As the information and business backbone of our society, this decision would be nothing short of horrendous - imagine what your cable company will do when they can treat the internet like cable.    This attack on the free and open internet, one that has allowed the US to lead global information and tech innovation,  will suffocate US innovation and seriously damage the economy.    Therefore we humbly call on Google, Amazon, Apple & Facebook to pull all their services - Gmail, Google Drive, Google Maps, GSuite, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, etc.; Amazon, Zappos, Amazon Web Services, Audible; iTunes, iDrive, Apple Music, etc.; Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, etc from any ISP that takes advantage of any rule weakening or destroying Net Neutrality.   We also call on Google, Amazon, Apple & Facebook to vigorously oppose any government to allow ISPs to block, slow, or otherwise discriminate against certain content or applications.                              Imagine a world where we're still all using AOL on dial-up.   Changes to the new rules include any changes to network access or speed, either to the benefit of those who can pay more to have their content move faster than others through the network of an ISP, or to the detriment of those who do not, in effect forcing ISPs to treat themselves as "common carriers".                                                    _______ If Net Neutrality is not upheld, internet service providers (ISPs), generally your cable company, will be able to decide which websites you can see, prevent you from accessing any website they see fit, charge you extra for access to certain pages or services (think $5/mo for Facebook!), and destroy new innovations. Set the doodle on April 24 | Փոխե’ք Google Doodle-ը ապրիլի 24-ին

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google's homepage. The Armenian Genocide was the Ottoman government’s systematic extermination of its minority Armenian subjects from their historic homeland within the territory constituting the present-day Republic of Turkey. The starting date is conventionally held to be 24 April 1915, the day Ottoman authorities rounded up and arrested hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. The total number of people killed as a result has been estimated at between 1 and 1.5 million. This is why we have the responsibility of spreading awareness about the genocide, and why Google should get involved for all humanity.

Demand Google Stop Peddling Dangerous ‘Pray Away the Gay’ App Targeting LGBT Youth

Why is Google’s online store still offering an “ex-gay” app that targets LGBT youth for the dangerous and ineffective practice of conversion therapy? Tell Google to immediately remove this hate app that marginalizes and stigmatizes LGBT people. By any standard, the app is awful. It brazenly compares homosexuality to an addiction. It casually trashes LGBT people as living “destructive lifestyles.” Living Hope, the creator of the app, repeatedly belittles transgender people as suffering from “gender confusion.” The group refers to gay men as “sexually broken guys” who can “walk out of false identities” and claims, without evidence, that the “gay lifestyle” is “spiritually and physically harmful.” When Truth Wins Out previously brought the hate app to the attention of Apple, Microsoft and Amazon, the companies acted with responsibility and swiftly removed it from their online stores. The surprising silence from Google is in stark contrast with the corporation’s stated policies of inclusion, respect and diversity. So why hasn’t the company taken action? “Ex-gay” programs are a sham. They don’t work, they destroy lives and they are condemned by every respectable medical and mental health organization in the world. The American Psychiatric Association says that sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE) can lead to “anxiety, depression, and self-destructive behavior”, including suicide. So, why is Google offering a platform for such a mean-spirited and dangerous product? Please sign our petition to demand that Google stop procrastinating and immediately remove Living Hope’s hateful app that deliberately singles out LGBT people for bigotry and ridicule. Every moment that this app remains at Google’s online store, vulnerable LGBT teenagers can download it, so time is of the essence.

YouTube: Remove Wrestling from "Offensive Content" List!

THE DISCLAIMERS I'm both a huge wrestling fan and an indy booker. I love wrestling. There, we're covered. EDIT: Should anyone find any factual inaccuracies in the petition, in either the story told or my reasoning, don't hesitate to contact me at THE SETUP On March 2017, YouTube underwent changes to its algorithm. You know, the piece of code that decides how content is organized, which videos appear on searches first and - most importantly here - what content is fit for advertisers. This came on the heels of a potentially big advertisers' boycott of YouTube, as many learned their ads were running in videos that contained and featured several forms of hate speech, among other inappropriate content. For the record, there's nothing wrong with that. Hate speech deserves nothing but 100 times the reception John Cena got at the Hammerstein Ballroom at One Night Stand. THE PROBLEM YouTube's algorithm (which is still being worked on) seems to broadly consider pro wrestling inappropriate content.  While I don't particularly enjoy watching Stephanie McMahon slap and emasculate wrestlers, I wouldn't call it inappropriate content. And I certainly wouldn't put it on the same level as racially or politically-motivated hate speech. If pro wrestling were that inappropriate, it wouldn't run on platforms like the USA Network. The changes made by YouTube are, I believe, exaggerated. THE CONSEQUENCES The pro: YouTube avoids an advertiser exodus. The con: YouTubers, Internet businesses and even big companies that work on topics like video gaming, social issues and our near and dear pro wrestling, are losing the revenue previously channeled to them by YouTube's advertisers. Why? Because the advertisers don't want their ad money on "inappropriate content". Several wrestling promotions have openly stated this course of action by YouTube had a very real impact on their ability to do business. At the top of the list, is WhatCulture and its WCPW brand, which made clear it was cancelling its WCPW Loaded tapings - which are broadcast via YouTube - and attributed the cancellation to YouTube's changes. The changes not only make it virtually impossible for them to receive money from ads on their videos, but also make it harder for them to be found by users - YouTube has also launched a "Restricted Mode" feature, designed to "protect" users from inappropriate content. According to Cageside Seats, other indy companies, like AIW and Beyond Wrestling, have also pointed out problems and difficulties arising from these changes. THE BOTTOM LINE While I certainly wouldn't want my own money for video ads to be used in the middle of videos promoting racism, I fail to see how an ad before/during a bad ass promo segment or a potential match-of-the-year performance doesn't provide a viable and engaging platform for advertising. (See amount of commercials that run during WWE Raw on the USA Network.) WCPW recently uploaded a totally free Rey Mysterio/Alberto El Patron match, which drew over 1 million viewers. But only $43 in ad revenue. For the entertainment level they are providing, WhatCulture Pro Wrestling and many other hard-working promotions deserve a return becoming of the content they put out - and the views it has the ability to generate. MY WISH AND MY PETITION I think it's only a matter of time until YouTube realizes pro wrestling is NOT inappropriate content. Their changes are, after all, a work in progress. But why wait? Why wait when wrestling promotions are feeling the crunch RIGHT NOW? Why don't we just take the question to YouTube. RIGHT NOW. SIGN MY PETITION And let's get wrestling promotions some money for their hard-earned work inside and outside the ring.Thank you.

Google: Take down instructional videos for illegal automatic gun modifications!

It only took fifteen minutes for the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history to occur. One man was able to injure or kill 574 people from a Las Vegas hotel window. The Clark County Sheriff has confirmed that two of the weapons used in the massacre “appeared to have been mechanically converted to full automatic fire.”Despite automatic weapons being illegal, people can turn to places like YouTube to learn how to turn their weapons into killing machines. A quick search for “diy automatic rifle” on Youtube returns 1.8 million video results! These videos provide advice and step-by-step guides for private citizens who want to make illegal modifications to otherwise legally-available semi-automatic firearms.YouTube shouldn’t be allowing videos that teach people how to turn their weapons into deadly, illegal machine guns. YouTube must remove and ban these videos now.I believe the ease with which anyone can turn to a website like Youtube to find tips and detailed instructional guides to make deadly weapons even more lethal presents a clear and present danger to society.Platforms like Youtube should be part of the solution to gun violence – not an enabler of deadly behavior. They must take action now. Enough is enough. If you agree with me, please sign and share this petition calling on Youtube to take down millions of videos showing gun owners how to illegally modify their semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic killing machines today.
