Gobierno Municipal, or in English "Municipal Government", is a local governing authority that is responsible for managing the affairs of a city, town, or district. They oversee basic services like water, sanitation, road maintenance, public safety and education. Municipal governments operate autonomously within the guidelines set by their respective national constitutions or laws, making decisions through elected officials, who are led by a mayor or a council. Essentially, the Municipio is the most local level of government and is charged with addressing the immediate needs of the citizens in their jurisdiction.
