The Gobierno de El Salvador, or the Government of El Salvador, is a democratic republic that operates under a presidential system. It is divided into three branches: the executive, headed by the President who is elected by popular vote; the legislative, composed of a unicameral Legislative Assembly; and the judiciary, led by the Supreme Court. The government is responsible for enacting national policies, ensuring public welfare, and maintaining relations with other countries, among other duties.
