George Alvarez is an American politician currently representing the 78th District of the New York State Assembly as a Democrat1. Born in the Dominican Republic, he is of Afro-Caribbean heritage. Alvarez earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in the Dominican Republic and a master's degree in Logistics in Madrid, Spain. He also holds a Harvard Certification in Cybersecurity and technical certifications from premier software development companies Before entering politics, Alvarez served as a member of Community Board 1 and as the vice-president of the Bronx Democratic Party. In the Assembly, Alvarez is a vocal supporter of the New York Clean Slate Act and sits on several committees, including Aging, Consumer Affairs and Protection, Labor, and Transportation.
