Eskom

Eskom is the largest producer of electricity in Africa, generating approximately 95% of South Africa's power and around 45% of Africa's electricity. This state-owned enterprise, founded in 1923, operates a number of notable power stations, including Kendal Power Station and Koeberg nuclear power station. Eskom mainly utilizes coal to generate electricity, contributing to its status as one of the top 20 carbon emitting power companies in the world. Despite facing various operational and financial challenges, Eskom remains a significant player in the South African economy.
