Doris Okada Matsui is an American politician and advocate, born in 1944, who has been serving as a member of the United States House of Representatives from California's 7th congressional district since 2005. Initially representing the district when it was numbered as the 5th and later the 6th, her tenure has been based in Sacramento. As a dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Matsui has played a significant role in national politics. Prior to her congressional service, she held positions such as Deputy Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Public Liaison at The White House. She is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley, and Dinuba High School. Her career reflects a strong commitment to public service and advocacy.
