Delaware State Senate

The Delaware State Senate is the upper house of the Delaware General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Delaware. Comprised of 21 senators, each representing a distinct district within the state, the Senate meets at the Delaware Legislative Hall in Dover. Senators serve four-year terms with elections staggered to prevent a total turnover in leadership. Legislation must be passed by the Senate, the State's lower house - The House of Representatives, and signed by the governor to become law. The Senate's functions involve policymaking, confirmation of political appointments, and oversight of the executive branch.
