Protect Mothers Rights During ChildBirth! #MothersVoice
You can donate for my surgery here https://www.gofundme.com/p8vcag I'm very grateful that you took the time to listen to my story. I am not doing this for myself alone, but for all women who have suffered at the hands of negligence. I understand that we all have our own hardships and injustices. I also understand that doctors and their teams make mistakes, therefore it's not about the medical staff but about the system. The system that's in place does not provide rights for women in childbirth. It does not allow even a chance for the medical staff to resolve their mistakes with the patient. The system in place only allows recovery of $250,000, thousand dollars which means that it is economically impossible for any mother to hold a hospital and staff accountable for gross negligence. During these past 18 months, I've connected with many hundreds of mothers who went through the same horrible experience. They too are embarrassed, to share intimate details, like I did. I've consulted over 150 attorneys who declined to take my case. Behind me are a multitude of mothers who were similarly damaged. I am fully aware of how difficult it is to bring change to systems in the United States. However, if you spend your 30 seconds by signing the petition, you'll provide an opportunity for women to have the ability to hold hospitals and doctors accountable for gross negligence.By signing this petition, you are requesting that the recovery ceiling of malpractice law be lifted for gross negligence on a mother giving birth.By singing this petition you will protect us, mothers, who don't have rights under this system. If you are a citizen of California of voting age, please sign this petition If you are a citizen of another State, please sign this petition and also start a petition in your home state if there are malpractice ceilings where you live.Together we can make this change! Every year in the United States, 65,000 women with pregnancy or childbirth nearly die. This is by far worst record in the developed countries. Approximately 28,000 babies are born with birth injuries each year. In spite of it all, hospitals refuse to carry responsibility and women in childbirth remain unprotected. We would like to change that on a national level. Every Voice Counts! My name is Kristina and I would like to share with you how my life turned into a nightmare due to negligence at Mercy San Juanhospital in Sacramento, CA. Perhaps my story will help many to get justice with similar experience. On September 30th 2016, at 3:33am, I gave birth to our wonderful son Moses. But memories of my labor still bring many tears. My pregnancy was very normal and the anticipated labor was supposed to be the same. It was my first long waited pregnancy and I did everything possible for my baby to be healthy. When I was around 36 weeks pregnant, around 1:00am I arrived to the hospital with contractions. I knew that I was in full labor because my contractions were 2-3 min apart. I requested epidural right away, they prepared me but the wait for the anesthesiologist took 2 hours. Obviously, it was too late. At 3:15, I was fully dilated with all of the medical personnel ready to assist me with pushing and welcoming my baby. On the fourth contraction, when the head of the baby was visible, someone ran into the room to get my doctors assistance for another patient. ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE ran out of the room leaving me with contractions and urge to push. I was abandoned by medical staff as I was pushing my crowning baby out. Their negligent act endangered my baby and me. My husband was in shock, ran out after them begging them to come back. I was in so much pain and terrified that my baby would fall on the floor, and no one would be there to catch him. As a result, the repercussions of their act ended detrimental. My husband returned without help. In the meantime, my strong urge to push was only getting stronger which led to the beginning of my tearing. When the medical team returned, without any examination of the changes, they took my legs and started pushing on my stomach, making me tear to the 4th degree. They extend through the anal sphincter and into the mucous membrane that lines the rectum. In a few seconds my baby flew out of me and the doctor caught him in the air. My baby was very small, only 5,6lbs, which makes it impossible to injure the mother with a weight this small if proper help was administered during labor. Immediately, they told me that surgery under anesthesia will be performed and any future children would be c section only. After I was discharged, the stitches started to fall apart. The wound became dangerously infected. I did not trust Mercy, so I went to Sutter Roseville. When they examined me, they were shocked about my story and to see how my recoverywas failing. After a few checkups with my obgyn who is affiliated with Mercy, I was promised that everything will heal and that I just need time and patience. A year and a half passed, the suffering and pain continue. On January 2018, after many tests I was informed that I need full reconstructive surgery. I am in constant pain because I have severe nerve damage. Pain episodes return me to the emergency room for intensive pain management. I’m constantly on pain killers. Because of the negligence of Mercy San Juan, I became disabled. Because of my immobility, the impact on my husband and family cannot be understated. I’m terrified of my bathroom trips, every sneeze or cough bring me fear. Any of these things could lead to rupture and emergency intervention. We tried talking with the hospital, I begged them to operate me, but they don’t want to be accountable for their negligence. However, they recognized that medical personnel left me alone. The only answer I get from them “We will not be talking to you without an attorney”. I asked to investigate my case, and they assured me they would, but it never happened. They consulted their own obgyn who expressed their own opinion, obviously to protect themselves. No investigation was performed. Many attorneys that I spoke to refused to take my case. Their response was “we can only protect a child, it’s almost impossible to protect mother” I only have one option now, and it’s to ask for your help. With your help justice can be served, and I will finally be able to have reconstructive surgery. My life can get to normal, and I can enjoy motherhood fully, without fear and pain. Only with your help, we can protect mother’s rights during childbirth.
'Virtual Fences' in the UK to Lessen Roadkill and Road Traffic Accidents
ProblemIn 2016-2017 it was reported that more than 3900 animals were killed on the roads in the United Kingdom (Confused.com, 2018). This is 3900 too many. Even more so when you take into account that this only the animals which are reported as roadkill. Have you ever reported roadkill which you've seen? No. Therefore, this number is likely to be much, much larger. Road signs such as, "Animals Crossing" are not effective- drivers simply ignore them. Speed bumps don't work either as they disrupt traffic and result in NIMBYist feelings. However, there is a solution, and it comes from Tasmania...SolutionIn Tasmania, on one stretch of road, there are 'virtual fences', which detect car movement, and animal movement, and when they correspond to one-another, lets out a high frequency sound and flashing lights- which is completely inaudible, and invisible to the driver. This results in the animal being "spooked", and not crossing the road, or it does cross, just when it is safe to do so.Too many people have crashed, or died, in their cars by trying to avoiding wildlife. This simple tool will help to reduce this. In Tasmania this device reduced roadkill by 50%- so fewer animals died, fewer cars were crashed, and fewer people died- a mutually beneficial device to prevent unnecessary deaths.#DontBeOnTheFence Please Share this petition in whatever way you can: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, word of mouth, so that one day this will become commonplace in the UK. If you want to learn more about the 'virtual fences' information can be found at: https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/australia-virtual-fence-roadkill/ or... Fox, et al., (2018), Roadkill mitigation: trialing virtual fence devices on the west coast of Tasmania, Australian Mammalogy, https://doi.org/10.1071/AM18012 Personal storyMy name is Sam, I am 20 years old, and am currently studying Geography at university. I wanted to set up this petition because when I saw this idea I thought that it should be utilised everywhere- not just hidden away in Tasmania. If it can reduce road traffic accidents, or roadkill even slightly then surely it would be a success?
Include breastfeeding supplies in the Healthy Start Voucher Scheme UK.
In the UK we offer healthy start vouchers to mothers who are eligible which enables the purchase of artificial milk, I believe this should be altered to include breastfeeding support materials, such as breast pads, milk storage bags and breast pumps. In the UK we have one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding in the world, and I believe that by adapting the Healthy Start vouchers to assist breastfeeding mothers, it would encourage the normalisation of breastfeeding throughout the UK. Please sign if you agree!
NEW FIRE SAFTEY LAWS FOR ALL RESIDENTIAL HOMES
changes for special needs children
Hi all i am from the westmidlands UK and im a mother to a 5 year old sweet boy with complex learning difficulties, We need loads more funding and understanding for children with all different special needs. More time in mainstream schools & more teachers training on special needs kids! We need more special school opening and time spent on our children just like the rest do, im so saddened by this it breaks my heart to know our children are suffering how about in 5-10 years time the next generation of children are going to suffer immensly due to this something has to be done NOW. Nevermind trying to pass our children off as naughty or cant be bothered to teach them so they end up in limbo like a pru with no formal education again due to no special school placement for children with no formal diagnosis, i am a mother of a special 5 year old boy whos going through hell with himself trying to get him where he needs to be! Like many others we need extra funding in order for our children to get the education they all deserve. Its been going on too long now something needs to be done i want to get as many signatures as i can to forward to the SEN department and above goverment for there understanding that us as parents simply cant keep going through hell all at the mercy of endless paperwork. We need them to listen to us parents as we know what's best for OUR CHILDREN not them! We need more special schools opening and training as theres a big rise in new cases and nowhere to place our children, please help by signing lets get our childrens voices heard Thankyou
Plastic bottle deposit scheme in the UK to encourage recycling
Many countries have a bottle deposit scheme. This means you pay a small deposit for the bottle packaging at the shop and, if you return the bottle later, you can get that deposit money back again. It works a little bit like the 5 pence charge on plastic bags, except, in this case - you can get the money back if you recycle! I experienced this when I lived in Germany and it works for a number of reasons: 1. It encourages recycling. In 2017, of the 38 countries that have this scheme, return rates were as high as 95%. (See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxeWGVsm818) 2. It's great when you get a little money back! 3. Homeless people and anyone strapped for cash help out. Though I hate to think people are using this as their main source of income, it does work towards solving the environmental issue. People would actually come up to you and offer to recycle the bottle for you. 4. Supermarkets get customers coming back to their stores because often the bottle deposit machine is placed inside their stores. 5. It stops plastic bottles entering our oceans which is better for marine life and also for your beach holidays. So why don't we have this in the UK? I'd like to know because, Greenpeace shares, 35 million bottles get discarded every day in the UK. Please sign this petition to create change and stop waste. It's easy to be sceptical about how much a petition can really change things but: - this petition will be shared with many politicians, courtesy of Change.org - this petition will also encourage the University of Nottingham to trial and showcase how a plastic bottle deposit scheme could work for the rest of the UK. - If you want to see some examples of petitions that were successul in creating change, go to: https://www.change.org/en-GB/victories I also encourage sign Greenpeace's petition on the same topic, to create double the impact: https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/page/s/bottle-deposit After researching the pros and cons of this scheme in other countries, I have developed a list of solutions to potential problems the UK may face when developing this scheme. Hence, this petition: 1. Does not support the collection of the bottles by any means that is not sustainable. (I.e. they must, for example, be collected by cars powered by electric made by a renewable source, or, by cycling couriers) 2. Supports including an option to give to charity on the machine. Upon every return machine there is a button which you can press which gives the money to charity instead of to yourself. For this, you don't get a reciept. They have a system like this at a university in Scotland and this lessens the amount of receipts printed. (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Se-eWJcogQ&list=WL&index=96&t=1s) 3. Supports having a receipt-free machine. Rather than a receipt, this petition supports the money coming directly from the machine to stop wasting paper. 4. Supports a policy whereby those companies which are contributing highly to plastic waste, they must account for the cost of the deposit the customer would usually pay themselves. I.e. If company wants to sell their product in a completely non biodegradable plastic, they cannot demand that the consumer pay the deposit. Then, the customers simply get extra pocket money for recycling it. For every apparent problem, there must be a way of finding a solution! I'd love to hear other people's suggestions. :) Cheers for reading!
To release Alfie Evans and give him a chance of life.
Help release Little Alfie Evans from AlderHey hospital...he has the chance to live life. He has no diagnosis, he is not dying and has transport ready to take him to Italy for possible diagnosis and treatment. Instead they want to turn off his life support and administer 2 lethal drugs to kill him that are used to execute prisoners in America. Its wrong for anybody to murder so please dont make it right for AH to take an innocent life. The law states...Both euthanasia and assisted suicide are illegal under English law. Assisted suicide..Assisted suicide is illegal under the terms of the Suicide Act (1961) and is punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment. Trying to kill yourself is not a criminal act. Euthanasia..Depending on the circumstances, euthanasia is regarded as either manslaughter or murder. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment. Types of euthanasia..Euthanasia can be classified as:voluntary euthanasia, where a person makes a conscious decision to die and asks for help to do sonon-voluntary euthanasia, where a person is unable to give their consent to treatment (for example, because they're in a coma) and another person takes the decision on their behalf, often because the ill person previously expressed a wish for their life to be ended in such circumstancesActive and passive euthanasiaYou may have heard the terms "active euthanasia" and "passive euthanasia"."Active euthanasia" is sometimes used to refer to deliberately intervening to end someone's life – for example, by injecting them with a large dose of sedatives."Passive euthanasia" is sometimes used to refer to causing someone's death by withholding or withdrawing treatment that is necessary to maintain life. It's important not to confuse "passive euthanasia" with withdrawing life-sustaining treatment in the person's best interests. Withdrawing life-sustaining treatment because it's in the person's best interests can be part of good palliative care and is not euthanasia. Imagine if it was your child and you knew they had a chance to have a life and be saved. Save Alfie Evans, This is Alfies Fight and he has Rights as well as his mum and dad Tom and Kate. Please help get Alfie out of that barbaric hospital beforw they murder him and help get him to Italy. ♂️Little Blue Soldier♂️
Scrap driver CPC
Driver CPC is nothing but a rip off, it might be used for the EU, but not for England, and as we are leaving the EU this should be scrapped or at least made optional so those that wish to drive within the EU can do the 35 hours and pay the money, but those of us that don't need and/or want it aren't obliged to do it, it's just a rip off money mailing scheme from the government. Sign this petition and help me encorage Teresa May to get something right about BREXIT and actually help England and give us what we want.
KEEP PEOPLE ON FOR LIFE DLA ON DLA.
Disibility Living Allowance to Pips changes. Many who have been on DLA for life are having very high stress levels changing dla to pips, who have long term health conditions, many have failed Pips leaving them with less income or no income. Some have lost their homes, some their lives. I lost my friend last year in her 50s from a heart attack, as she was sanctioned heavily and had benefuts cut. I know of others who have serious long term serious health conditions whom their dla was for life. They changed to pips and have been failed. Left with peanuts. Many have homes to run. Something has to be done to protect the vulnrable, and those with serious long term health conditions, stop stress on the vulrable and those with long term health conditions. People have died over the pips change. Change the laws to protect these people.
End the fire services pay freeze and give them the rise they deserve
Our fire service are everyday hero's. They are a treasure to our nation and work tirelessly to keep us all safe. They work so hard to keep us all safe, but their value is not reflected in their pay deals. They have had a 5 year pay freeze, which is completely unacceptable. After recent events in London, where their service has been invaluable, I ask they get what they deserve. Thresea May, I ask you personally for this. Please give the fire service their pay rise. A fair one. It can come out of the mps pay rise budget. I'm sure they would be happy to donate it to the fire service that keeps them, their children and our country safe.
