Daniel Lipinski is an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative for Illinois's 3rd congressional district from 2005 to 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he is known as one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress, opposing abortion and same-sex marriage. Lipinski succeeded his father, Bill Lipinski, who held the same congressional seat for over a decade. He has a Ph.D. in political science from Duke University and was a university professor prior to his political career.
