Dan Maffei is an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative for New York's 24th congressional district from 2013 to 2015. Prior to this, he served in the same capacity for New York's 25th congressional district from 2009 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, Maffei holds a strong background in policy making, journalism, and communications. His career includes stints as a reporter for ABC's Syracuse affiliate, a press secretary for the Ways and Means Committee, and a senior advisor in the U.S. Department of Commerce under the Obama Administration. Maffei graduated from Brown University and earned his Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
