Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA) is an independent administrative authority in France responsible for regulating electronic media, including television and radio. Its functions include ensuring the protection of consumers, fair competition among broadcasters, the promotion of cultural diversity, and the prevention of any form of discrimination in program content. The CSA also oversees the respect of ethical and legal norms in French broadcasting, and ensures that the different points of view get fairly represented in the public debate, notably during election periods. It has the power to issue penalties to any broadcasting organization that fails to comply with the rules.
