CONMEBOL, an acronym for "Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol" or South American Football Confederation in English, is the governing body of football in South America. Founded in 1916, it is the oldest existing continental football federation and oversees national and club competitions among its 10 member associations. Considered one of FIFA's six continental confederations, CONMEBOL's most prestigious tournaments include the Copa América for national teams, and the Copa Libertadores for club teams. With its headquarters in Luque, Paraguay, CONMEBOL has produced some of the most successful national teams on the global stage, including Brazil and Argentina.
