The Congreso de la Republica de Colombia, also known as the Congress of the Republic of Colombia, is the country's national legislative body. It is a bicameral institution composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Members of both chambers are elected by popular vote and serve four-year terms. The congress plays a key role in creating and implementing laws, monitoring the executive and judicial branches of the government, and representing the interests of the Colombian citizens.
