The Commissione Europea, or the European Commission, serves as the executive branch of the European Union. It is primarily responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, and upholding EU treaties. Made up of 27 commissioners from each EU member state, the Commissione Europea works to maintain the general interest of the EU by implementing its policies across all member countries. It takes on a range of tasks, from negotiating international agreements on behalf of the EU to managing the EU budget. Its work ensures the smooth functioning and development of the European Union.
